The German-speaking group in Canterbury has been there since the 1960s. At that time, the pastor of Bonheoffer church began to regularly meet the German mothers and families in the episcopal city.
Today, the group consists of about 20 women who meet once a month (always Mondays) in private homes. While enjoying coffee and delicious home-made (!) cakes, the group has a lively discussion about a set topic.
Three to four times a year the group is joined by many more German speakers from the city and the surrounding area (men, families and women) for a church service.
Outings and Walks
The group also meets for excursions and walks. On of them was a visit to the Bruderhof community Beech Grove in the summer of 2012.
We welcome new Members!
The group in Canterbury welcomes new members, young and old, men, women, Germans, Austrians, English or other nationalities.
